Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has ruled out the possibility of Graham Potter replacing Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham has been struggling for consistency in this campaign after starting the competition with ambition of a top-four finish and ending the season with some form of silverware.
Mourinho became Tottenham’s latest manager at the halfway point last season and guided them from a poor start to a European spot.
Their bid to end this season with Champions League qualification was dealt a huge blow after Dynamo Zagreb eliminated them from the Europa League.
They need to finish inside the top four now and that is not going to be easy. Mourinho is now under pressure and some managers have been linked as his replacement.
Potter has emerged as one of the forward-thinking English bosses and he would most likely bring back exciting football to Spurs, but Sherwood says it is too early for him to make the move.
When asked whether the Brighton boss could replace Mourinho, the former Tottenham interim boss said on Optus Sport’s The Analysis Show: “Not now.
“The way he coaches his side, and the work he puts in the training ground as we have evidently seen – but look at it, he could still get relegated and then that would be a disaster. Then he’s going nowhere.
“There’s a real belief, he’s a training-ground coach – with better players, who knows what he could achieve. Jose could still take Spurs into top four, there’s still an opportunity to qualify for the Champions League and win the Carabao Cup.”

If Levy chooses to splash the cash on firing Mourinho he’ll not want to have to pay yet more monies in compensation on poaching another clubs manager…. which probably puts Benitez in prime position. I think our next four games will probably determine if Mourinho is our manager next season.
