Senior Spurs’ Player Offered New Deal As Levy Struggles To Find Funds For A Replacement

By The Boy -

According to Football London, things are just as tight inside the club as they appear from the outside, and one key indicator looks to be the contract situation with Tottenham’s captain, Hugo Lloris. The suggestion is, that an extension of unspecified length has been offered to Hugo.

The World Cup-winning Frenchman’s current deal has just one year remaining this summer, which ordinarily would be a cause for concern… however Daniel Levy has considerable recent form for leaving such matters late in the day. That said, Hugo is 34 right now, and right now is surely even leaving it late in terms of succession management at Hotspur Way.

I would not be surprised to see Spurs run the clock right down with Lloris, in the hope that fans can begin to return to stadiums, and that society is interacting normally again. We’ve discussed this before, but people haven’t been allowed to behave normally for about a year, and football has lost much of its allure as a consequence.

For me, I know I’m not talking about football face-to-face with anyone beyond my podcast co-host (which I’m sure has been a burden lifted for many) and the pub I drink in, well it rotates around the game. From the Last Man Standing competition, to the Sky 6 team to the games that shown live; a complete stranger could reasonably walk in off the street and become involved with another drinker filling out his accumulator sheet.

Mark my words. Until these disconnects are bridged, Levy will not have the resources to be proactive in the markets (as if he routinely ever was) because only then will the money come back in.

Lloris looks like he will run down his contract like others before him and Levy will be left empty handed, again. He won’t make waves but is in a win-win situation, another example of the finacial wizaedry of our bald owner.

His obsession with brinkmanship has cost the club dear.

When will uncle Joe’s patience run out?

Therefore you have to question the future of the manager who will be desperate to recruit some quality of his choosing into the squad which will obviously cost big money, cannot see him wanting to struggle on with his present group.
