Sandro Potentially A Major Coup For Spurs Will Juve Got For it? |opinion

By Joe Fish -

Yesterday the gaffer brought you the story that Tottenham are negotiating with Juventus over a swap deal for Serge Aurier and Alex Sandro.

Tuttomercato reports that our attempts to bring 29-year-old Sandro to London would require Aurier to go the other way along with a cash top-up.

Sandro is older than a traditional Daniel Levy target, but the below piece outlines why he must now sacrifice that aspect of his business model.

The Italian publication now understands that Spurs are in talks with Juve over not one but two swap deals, which are finally going to have their day in the sun in the COVID-19-inflicted transfer market of summer 2020.

The second deal apparently involves Danny Rose and Mattia De Sciglio and would be a straight swap; unwanted full-back for an unwanted full-back.

Combined and these swaps are effectively Sandro for Rose, who both play on the left, and Aurier for De Sciglio, who both play on the right, primarily.

And there is no way that Juventus, who have been arguably the most astute club in the transfer market over recent years, are going to fall into that trap.

What would they want with Aurier and Rose? An error machine and a mouthy has-been aren’t going to help them to Champions League glory.

De Sciglio is equally average; Sandro is the hot commodity here, and why would Juve trade him in for an inferior, crocked player when the Brazilian still has three years left on his contract, according to transfermarkt.com?

It would be a major coup for Spurs but Juve surely won’t go for it.
