Ridiculous loan fee for Danny Rose shows how toxic he had become at Tottenham | opinion

By Bruce Grove -

Danny Rose has become one of the most outspoken Premier League players in recent months and almost none of it has to do with actually playing football, something he has not been very good at for some time.

The Tottenham loanee was shipped out on loan to Newcastle United in the last transfer window after he fell out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

Since 2017 when Rose publicly criticized Tottenham for their transfer dealings and openly claimed that he was looking for one last big contract before hanging up his boots, his career has gone downhill.

He has failed to appear in the limelight for football reasons, for a player that most top teams wanted to sign in his prime, that just shows how much he has fallen from grace.

A report from Newcastle based Chronicle Live claimed that Newcastle United had to pay just £1.8million to get him to join their team on loan for the rest of the season.

That fee, in my humble opinion, shows how much his toxic nature has caused his value to plummet.

Spurs are known to demand top dollar for their players whenever they are moving and Daniel Levy knows how to get a team to pay even more than they should.

For him to have accepted such a small fee for Rose shows that Spurs were desperate to get his toxicity out of their team for good.

Another Levy master stroke £1.8m for a player past his best and wasn’t wanted and still a transfer fee to come.👏

Prior to Rose’s injury he signed a long term deal which he subsequently moaned about. That was his and his agent’s mistake, not the Club’s. The irony is Rose did deserve more, but no one forced him to take the deal. I would disagree that his performances have been poor though. He always put in a shift. You never saw him walking round, moaning at other players. When he looks back on his career earning enough money should not be an issue.

I’ve always supported Danny and still think he is a valuable player. Speaking about Spurs transfer policy simply reflected what many supporters felt anyway. However, his recent rants have been opportunistic and he needs to learn when to speak up and when to keep quiet and certainly don’t speak with the Sun which is never a good idea.

1,8m is very small yes! What’s your point here if his value is around 17m? He was worth 1m when he was a little kid back in 2007! get your shit together

If Spurs were asked to pay an £8m loan fee for a so called top player like Coutinho who cost £140m ,then getting £1.8m for a player who only cost £1m sounds like a good deal to me. Ridiculous loan fee for Danny!! Small fee!! Are you serious?
