Revealed | How Much Spurs Would Sell Erik Lamela For This Summer

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham would allegedly be willing to listen to offers of around £20m to sell Erik Lamela this summer.

Jose Mourinho is facing a transfer market where he must settle for free transfers, loans and swap deals to improve his squad, unless any money can be generated by selling players.

According to the Daily Star, Lamela is seen as disposable as we have a dearth of wide options, which could be added to with the signing of Willian which Mourinho is keen to complete.

Football London have suggested that the 28-year-old Argentine could be offered back to Serie A in exchange for any number of Spurs targets, namely Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.

That would be a good use of Lamela but the Daily Star reports that any cash recouped from his sale would first and foremost go towards covering Willian’s £120,00-per-week wages.

Lamela has had enough chances and now his time is up. Whether it is Milik, Willian, or a three-legged donkey, trading him in for parts is the right move.

Rather keep Lamela than have Willian, any day of the week and twice on Sat. Lamela is a warrior, Willian is bang mediocre as he descends the wrong side of the hill – he’s over it.

Why would the fee for Lamela go first and foremost towards Willian’s salary?By releasing Lamela you’re already getting his 80+K weekly salary off the books.Even free transfers have to be paid a salary.
The only upside off getting rid of Lamela is losing a player who has spent far too long on the treatment table.I like his attitude when he plays but he’s basically been stealing a living whilst with us.

I like Lamela if he’d stayed fit he might have been a top player, but it’s sentimentality to keep him. I don’t like Willian much but I didn’t like Mourinho much either but now he’s our manager I’m backing him. No top club would have kept Lamela as long as we have, it’s a very honourable thing to have done, but it’s that type of thinking that’s held us back. In those horrible words used to excuse underhand dealings, “It’s just business”.

No one is paying £20m for Lamela in today’s market. We might get £10m, but for that I think he’s worth keeping.

TBH I am not in the slightest interested in Willian. He had his chance to join us and chose Chelscum instead. I certainly would not waste that much on his wages. I would rather keep Lamela, at least he always wanted to be at Spurs!

I’d be very surprised if any club in these cash strapped times would pay anywhere near £20 million for a player with his injury history. First team squads will probably shrink to save money and nobody can carry passengers, because that’s what Lamela is, I know he’s a trier, I know he’s very likeable, I know he can occasionally dazzle, but for a once record signing he’s been a huge failure. Which club would pay £20 million for a player you can’t rely on?
