Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter will depart the German club when his contract expires in June.
According to Spanish media outlet Sport, Ginter is one of the three targets that Antonio Conte has on his winter wishlist. Whether Tottenham can convince the German club to sell now and not wait until the summer remains to be seen. Nonetheless,
Ginter addresses a need that the north London club has on their backline, which they began addressing this past summer when Tottenham purchased Cristian Romero from Atalanta BC. However, instead of going for another young defender, it seems they want one with experience.
The soon-to-be 28-year-old will still be in his prime years and help Romero anchor the backline and be the spine for the Spurs defense. The former Borussia Dortmund defender has over 250+ appearances in the Bundesliga and might want to venture outside Germany.
With the FIFA World Cup coming up, Ginter might also want to put himself in a position where he’s at a club playing significant minutes and in all situations to claim one of the starting center-back positions for the Germany national team.
He would be a great signing, much needed talent and experience at the back
Just the sort of player Levy will go out of his way to miss out on.
