Report: Chelsea forward open to reuniting with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will be in the market this summer to add scoring depth behind their star forwards Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. There are various names connected to the north London club and the latest news on this front sees a possible reunion.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via AS), manager Antonio Conte has contacted Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku to reveal Spurs‘ interest, describe his project, and how the player would fit into the attack.

Despite Conte wanting to reunite with his former player, the 29-year-old’s first option would be to return to Inter Milan, where he had his best couple of years as a professional footballer. However, should that opportunity not come around, he’s reportedly open to heading to north London.

Nonetheless, it seems as though Lukaku wants out of Stamford Bridge and these two options appear to be at the top of the list as the Belgium international eyes a move away from Chelsea.

When it comes to the possible asking price, Transfermarkt puts Lukaku’s value at £77-million. A loan move might be in the cards, but it will be interesting to see if Spurs pay anywhere close to that amount or negotiate a lower fee.

Gives Conte an option on 2 up front which would scare the living daylights out of defences across Europe. But at £80m seems a bit extravagant! Not sure this is the best use of “the war chest”.

No way in hell Chelsea loan him to us.

Would rather Martinez if similar fee figures are being thrown about.

Still, he’s 29 not 31 etc – could easily be the difference in winning a final. On form he’s unstoppable and the idea of him finding that form alongside Son and Kane is a terrifying prospect for ANY opposition.

Probably not happening but interesting…
