Sergio Reguilon has admitted that Jose Mourinho played a key role in persuading him to sign for Tottenham this summer.
The Spaniard joined Spurs at the same time as Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in the just closed transfer window after he impressed for Europa League finalists, Sevilla on loan last season.
He is one of the exciting players that Tottenham has managed to sign and he will be hoping to help the club end their wait for a trophy, which has lasted for 12 years.
He was speaking to Sky Sports in his very first interview since he moved to England and he admitted that Mourinho was a key factor in his decision to move to north London.
He also claimed that several teams wanted to sign him this summer, but when he heard of the interest from Tottenham he didn’t think too long about accepting the challenge.
He said: “He is a world-class manager and he was very important in my decision to come,”
Reguilon added: “There was a broad market but as soon as I heard of Tottenham’s interest, it was simple.
“It was a big deal to leave my country, my league and my family, but it has worked out well.
“Since I arrived here, the truth is the club has surprised me in a very good way. The training facilities, my team-mates, everything. The stadium is insane. I have really enjoyed it so far.”
Reguilon looks set to become the club’s first-choice left-back after his fine performances in the game that he has played for the Lilywhites so far.
