Jose Mourinho has refused to give details about his team selection ahead of Tottenham’s game against LASK Linz today, as journalists probed him about two of the club’s new signings.
The Portuguese manager will lead his side out today against LASK in their first Europa League group game of the season.
He signed Carlos Vinicius last summer so that he can reduce the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane.
Ideally, the Brazilian should start the cup matches and help Kane to rest and focus on firing Spurs back inside the top four.
While the Benfica loanee might well start for the club this evening, Mourinho has refused to confirm that information.
Speaking ahead of the match, he was asked by reporters about who will play and he would only confirm that Davinson Sanchez, who was with him at the press conference would be playing the game.
He was also quizzed about if Gareth Bale will start and he similarly refused to give any information away.
When asked if Vinicius and Bale will start he said, as quoted by Football London:
“The only player that I confirm is Davinson Sanchez because he comes to the press conference and I hope you have many questions for him but don’t ask him any questions about the amazing goal he scored on Sunday.”
When quizzed further on him saying Bale might start today at the weekend, he added: “I’m not going to answer and tell the team. Only Davinson. We have everybody selected. These guys are not old fashioned like the Premier League and they allow us to go with a squad of 23 players, so everybody is selected.”
