Ian Wright and Tim Sherwood disagreed over whether or not Everton should have had a penalty when Richarlison appeared to have been brought down by Hugo Lloris.
The Arsenal legend believed it wasn’t a penalty as the striker was quickly back on his feet and ready to play on, but former Spurs manager, Sherwood, felt Lloris made contact with him and it should have been a penalty.
Wright told Premier League Productions: “Richarlison looks like he is ready to go down now anyway.
“He has kind of like taken him out, he has impeded him a little bit, but he does get up. The thing with it is that Richarlison has got up and is ready to play on.”
Sherwood said: “Now, Hugo might have got a slight touch on it, but then his follow-through definitely brings down Richarlison. His body and his right arms sweeps Richarlison down.”
The Boy Hotspur Says
Lloris clearly made contact with the ball and that showed that the Frenchman intended to catch the ball and not the striker’s leg.
Thankfully, this is one incident where VAR came to the rescue for Tottenham and it could have ruined Antonio Conte’s first league game.
Spurs’ stars will now head into the international break and hopefully, return in top shape to win their next match.
Yep
Tim, not so nice but dim.
Timbo the Dimbo
It tells you everything you need to know about Sherwood.
Sherwood’s a premier league winner and he doesn’t understand the basics still.. What matters is that Hugo touched the ball before the player, which he clearly did, it changed direction… The ‘follow through’ only comes in to consideration if its dangerous play. You’re allowed to follow through. Just not with studs up, or two footed.
