Pochettini tipped to take at least one high profile Tottenham player to PSG

By Bruce Grove -

Thomas Tuchel has been fired by PSG and one of the early favourites to succeed him is Mauricio Pochettino (BBC).

The Argentinean has been out of a job since he was fired by Tottenham last year, but a return might be nearer than we think.

PSG have dominated the French Ligue 1 and Tuchel continued that tradition by winning the last two league titles.

He even reached the final of the Champions League last season, but it was still not enough to save his job.

Poch also reached the final of the Champions League in 2019 and although he hasn’t exactly won a trophy as a manager, he is one of the highest-rated managers in the world at the moment.

Mail Sports says if he joins them, then he would likely take struggling Dele Alli with him.

Poch was the manager when Tottenham landed Alli in 2015 and the midfielder was linked with a move to the French side last summer.

Spurs didn’t want him to leave, but with Poch in the picture, Alli might force the move.

The midfielder has seen his game time limited in London and he recently threw a tantrum after he was subbed off against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.

Money wise it is the wrong time to sell Dele but he will be a distracting influence and Mourinho clearly wants him gone so a loan seems sensible.

Ole turned the wheel and steered out of the ditch, and Zidane has his boys up to 2nd in the league and top of their CL group. Poch’s best chances evaporated, so why not PSG? Should be easy to pick up some trophies there, wife would probably much prefer living in Paris to Manchester, as any sane person would. No real downside for Poch, he’s young, and likely to turn up at United or RM as his next stop after PSG. Good man, gave us a lot of great memories, I wish him all the best.

We were lead to believe that Botch was earmarked for a Big Job. Like at Man Utd?

I think that Levy will think that for sure ,he is probably still fuming about losing money for erikson.
Myself ,if it was permeant i wouldnt be that gutted i dont think Maureen and him will ever work that well together .
We got 3 amazing to decent years where it worked out well for all and at 5 mil a absolute bargain.
Lets thank David Pleat for that by all accounts.

I don’t think PSG is ideal job for Poch & Co. as it is not a “project” type of role, but at least he’ll break the trophy drought in that farmer’s league.

I’d welcome Poch returning to management outside the PL.

Think it would be the right choice for him – a league he’s almost guaranteed CL qualification and a good chance of winning the league or a domestic cup to get that monkey off his back.

I take it you think a loan deal would be better than an outright sale.

Would be a good thing for Ali and Spurs as Poch might actually get a tune out of him and get his value greatly increased.
If he gets the job…
