Player deemed ‘perfect’ by Mourinho now pushing for Spurs exit

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to The Evening Standard, Joe Rodon is desperate to leave Tottenham in search for regular playing time.

The 24 year old moved to Spurs from Swansea for £11m and since then has barely featured for the club. He has a total of just 24 appearances across all competitions, most of them coming under Jose Mourinho. And with the Welshman not evidently part of Antonio Conte’s plans, the center-back looks determined to switch clubs in search for more minutes ahead of the upcoming world cup.

As the young defender pushes for a move away, both clubs in England and abroad have registered their interest in him. According to Alex Crook via TalkSport, Frank Lampard is eyeing him to strengthen his defense at Everton.

Mourinho is also reportedly intersted in reuniting with him at AS Roma and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian club has already enquired about his availability in June.

Mourinho seems to be a big fan of the player. He has previously been quoted saying (via football.london): “He’s perfect. Works very hard, young guy, wants to learn, very enthusiastic. He played already matches that represent a lot, he played important matches against some of the best teams.”

You dont hear from the Danny Rose fans anymore ,they were truly blaming spurs for the way he was treated. The big man of this blog called it that the same will happen at Watford and behold …..

I;m with KnobSpur on this “not fancied by 4 managers” but now we see Mourinho did rate him and according to one of the reporters in the week (cant remember if it was Sky or D Express) Conte is in a quandary over our Joe.
But you are right KnobSpur he wasnt fancied by either Cone Boy or The Statue. Props

He’s at Watford with another year left on his contract.I think he has been banished from the first team squad by the last three managers,so will probably sit out his final year as usual.Wasted talent with an attitude problem to me.

Nottingham Forest is an obvious exit route – Steve Cooper coached him at Swansea and he obviously did well under him. And I bet he would start every week there…..

With regular playing time, Rodon would be a decent player. The rise of Davies as a LCB has a lot to do with him missing out.

I guess Lenglet will be his replacement and he can move on to new pastures. Still not convinced Lenglet has the physical attributes for the PL, but we will see.

Torres would have been my choice, or the boy from Leipzeg – but I understand that he would cost an arm and a leg. Perhaps there’s a youngish English CB that we could consider?

See Stevie has gone to Ajax. He never seemed happy or smiling so I hope he cheers up. Always reminded me of Danny Rose. What’s happened to him BTW
