One big reason why much touted Tottenham Inter Milan swap deal is unlikely to happen

By Bruce Grove -

The one big reason why Tottenham might not be able to pull off the Milan Skriniar Tanguy Ndombele swap deal is that Spurs can’t seem to meet the Slovakian’s wage demands, according to Gianluca Dimarzio.

Inter Milan has signalled interest in signing Ndombele after the midfielder struggled in his first season at Tottenham, and he has been out of the first-team picture for much of the restart.

The Italians have a good relationship with Spurs after both teams had a productive negotiation in the transfer of Christian Eriksen in the last transfer window.

The report from Dimarzio claims that Inter is prepared to allow Skriniar to join the Lilywhites in exchange for the Frenchman.

However, the defender’s wage demands are just too much for Tottenham to agree to.

Skriniar has been at Inter since 2017 and he was one player that looked indispensable to the Italians.

The latest report indicates that he is no longer untouchable and signing him would be huge for Spurs.

The Lilywhites have lost Jan Vertonghen, while Juan Foyth is out of favour under Jose Mourinho and Skriniar would almost certainly be an upgrade on the likes of Foyth.

The report, however, adds that Daniel Levy isn’t so sure that he should let Ndombele go after just one season because it will look like a failure on his part.

Skriniar had been highly coveted in recent seasons, but chose to go with Inter.Unfortunately his age will go against him with Levy and obviously his wage demands will lead to no cigar for Gordon Gekko.

Crazy situation. Discount Danny is already a failure whatever happens. Just take a look at the trophy cabinet to see that. Or take a look at the long list of poor quality signings he’s made since he’s been dictator, I mean chairman. Most of whom he’s had to sell on at a loss. Many being gone faster than Danny Rose could google them! You couldn’t make it up.
