“Nothing but a shame it’s ended this way” Spurs fans react as Danny Rose leaves the club

Tottenham has announced that Danny Rose will leave the club on a free transfer.

Jose Mourinho froze the Englishman out of the team this season after he fell out with the Portuguese boss.

He hasn’t played any football this season after failing to find even a temporary home.

The announcement brings to an end his 14-year association with the Whites and he was an important part of their team for much of it.

Spurs were trophyless for much of his time with them, but he was a part of the team that reached the final of the Carabao Cup in 2015 and the Champions League in 2019.

The club posted about his departure on the Twitter account to confirm that he would leave them at the end of his current deal next month. Not all their fans were happy with how he was treated and made that known in the comments.

We have curated some reactions for you, see them below:

Right on all counts. Danny paid the price for telling us how it is, several years before the penny dropped for the majority. Nothing but love for Danny, Danny Rose

I liked Danny Rose despite several knock backs he became for a short period the best left back in the premiership. Hence why City tried to buy him and he found out how, in comparison terms with other clubs, underpaid he was.
In the great scheme of things professional sportsman at the top level earn outrageous salaries but i suspect it’s human nature to feel aggrieved if you feel you are not being paid the going rate. He clearly felt that was the case as did others in the Pochettino era.
Sadly he was never the same after his knee injury and his career has ebbed away. He was perfectly entitled to see out his contract if Spurs didn’t or perhaps couldn’t payout his contract. It’s quite probably the last time he will earn big money and he is still a young man.
I hope the poster who said he was a good influence on the kids was right about that story, I can believe it as whenever I heard him interviewed he came across as a quiet considered guy.
I also thought he was hung out to dry in that amazon interview. It really was a shocking series in which no one came out with any credit, or with their reputations enhanced despite I’m sure it being edited.

“A thank you is all he got” – are they serious, Poch + others made a bang average player an England international and a multi-millionaire, it should be him thanking Spurs.

He may be a rat, but he played for the biggest rat of all in Levy so i guess he just learnt from him! On a more serious note, the youngsters he has been training with the last 18 months or so have praised him highly and said how humble he was. We all don’t know everything that’s gone on and as such life is, some will blame him, others not and personally I’d rather remember him for the goal he scored against the arses and the few seasons he and walker gave us the best full back pairing in the league!

He’s a rat.
This shows what’s fundamentally wrong. Poch wanted him gone, levy bottled it and the decline started.
Once rose got away with the sun interview every player knew where the power was.
Hence big chunks of the squad played up since.

Nope, that’s all he’s getting. Was part of a good team but when you openly criticise your employer, this is what happens, right or wrong. Interesting to see where he goes.
