Hugo Lloris wears the captain’s armband for Tottenham Hotspur, but the 35-year-old is far from the only vocal voice in the room to galvanize the squad. The France international spoke with Tottenham’s Twitch channel (via The Boot Room), discussing the other leaders in the dressing room.

Lloris states that striker Harry Kane is one of the voices the locker room listens to, which is no surprise considering the 28-year-old is captain of the England national team.

The other two might surprise some as Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg are the other two leaders in the Spurs squad.

“It’s not only my responsibility,” Loris said. “There’s also important players in the changing room, some leaders, like Harry, like Pierre [-Emile Hojbjerg], like Eric Dier, who are quite vocal.”

“That’s good because we share this experience together. And then obviously, there is the manager and the coaching staff.”

It will be a while until Lloris surrenders the captain’s armband for the north London club, as he’s under contract with the Premier League side until 2024 after penning a new deal last month.

The France international’s contract was expiring in June, and there was speculation over his future with Tottenham. Nonetheless, he put all that to rest with his new deal.

No surprise to me either. Captain should be an outfield player, preferably not a forward. For example Danny Blanchflower.

Why would PEH and Dier be a surprise to anybody?Lloris certainly doesn’t have leadership qualities.I cannot believe he has remained captain for so long.
