Mourinho reviews Burnley and what sort of test he expects from them

By Bruce Grove -

Jose Mourinho is renowned for being a defence-minded manager before he was appointed by Tottenham.

His Chelsea team was famous for conceding few goals and that helped them win trophies, but he isn’t given much credit for the attacking output of his teams.

It seems that Tottenham will change that stereotype under the Portuguese manager after their fantastic goalscoring start to the season.

The Lilywhites scored six goals in the humiliation of Manchester United and five goals at Southampton in the league this season already.

Their goals have come predominantly from the boots of Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, but the Portuguese manager expects their goalscoring to be tested as they face Burnley in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The Clarets are one of the most organised defensive teams in the Premier League and they are expected to give Spurs a tough game.

Mourinho expects that too, speaking ahead of the match, he said as quoted by The Independent: “Full of confidence yes but also aware of the difficulties of the trip to Turf Moor.

“Burnley is Burnley and they know the way they want to play, the problems they want to give to opponents.

“They know how they want to defend, how they try to hurt opponents offensively. Years and years the same coach, the same philosophy, much of the players the same too.

“I expect Burnley to try to stop us. And they do that for many years, with success in many cases. They don’t concede many goals, they defend very well, they know what it is to stop the strongest teams from winning against them.

“So I expect a very difficult match and to be scoring goals is a consequence of how well we are playing. That of course brings confidence.

“We will go there confident. But I have to make sure I pass to the players my feelings and my feelings don’t change since the first day I played Burnley. It’s difficult.”

Jose, you’re here to win and keep winning. That’s what everyone keeps saying, enough talk. Time to deliver and show the world while you’re a still a top manager.
