“Maybe it’s him that’s being patient” Son accused of delaying new Spurs deal

By Bruce Grove -

Danny Mills thinks Son Heung-min might be delaying talks of a new Spurs’ deal deliberately while he puts himself in the window to get a better deal elsewhere.

The South Korean has emerged as one of Tottenham’s most important players in recent seasons.

His partnership with Harry Kane has blossomed in this campaign as they become one of the deadliest attack partnerships in Europe.

But his contract is running down and he needs to be given a new one as soon as possible.

The club remains confident that he will sign, but the attacker recently said it made little sense to talk about contract renewals at a time like this.

This statement could mean that he is not eager to be committed to Spurs, especially as they struggle to qualify for Europe ahead of next season.

Mills thinks Son could leave and move to a top club, but the proper thing to do is to tie him down to a new deal as fast as possible.

He then suggests that the Korean might be the person delaying the signing of a new contract and not the club hesitating about offering one to him.

He said to Football Insider: “If Tottenham are struggling because of covid then everybody else is going to be struggling.

“I know the stadium was going to be used for other events and that was going to be a huge source of revenue for them but that will come back. That’s not going to be a massive issue.

“Where does Son go? He’ll have to go to a top club and they’re going to have to pay top dollar and do they have the money?

“If I was Tottenham I’d be trying to tie him down immediately because I think he’s a fantastic player, he’s exceptional. His work rate, his levels of consistency. He seems like the type of person that everybody would want. If I was Tottenham I’d get him signed up sooner rather than later.

“Maybe it’s him that’s being patient. Maybe he’s had a look at it and thought ‘You know what, I’ll get some offers and there’s plenty of time, no rush. I’ll just wait and see what happens.’”

A lot of if buts and maybe’s. I’m working on ENIC’s track record. The reality is that it’s the only evidence any of us have to work with…

So wait. If your playing in Korea and the only British man there you wouldn’t want a fellow Brit/ mate to join you? Of course he’d like his mate here. Ever worked abroad?

Ask Jimmy greaves if it ain’t a big thing. Harry will become Tottenhams highest ever goal scorer (don’t think it means nothing to him) he’ll win stuff at tottenham too

Since the CL final (I’m surprised the paranoid gamblers didn’t call it a fix after Tottenhams non performance) we’ve added ndom lo cel bale Reggi peh rodon bergy vini. How is the team going backwards? We just need 3 or four in. Yousef atal for starters RB Great defender wicked attacker. Him with Reggi on the left. Power serge and sessy standing by. Japh rodon center. (Rodon is better than he looks. Japh born to do it. Toby +1 standing by. further up peh and skip will have that covered. Son Kane bale lucas ndom bergy lamela vini take your pick. Clark coming back (he’s gonna prove to be cheap soonish (great Levi move) Harvey the sledge hammer white. Dennis Cirkin. The boy Troy too. I’m not worried about my club at all. Levy gotta find £100 mil from somewhere. Tottenham tills are empty. Davies and winks are proof that attitude ain’t everything talent is. Marcus worth/ better footballer than both of them. They can both leave now please. God knows how you both got this far. Sanchez can join them with sissy. Must can get a little £60 mil for them them 4. Only £40m more to find. Dele won’t be leaving I don’t think.

He actually couldn’t care less if another Korean player joined Tottenham.

Just out of interest, what is this ‘break every record at the club I love’ business?

I’ve heard HK talk of medals, but never ANY other professional footballer on this green earth

It’s all down to Mrs Kane. Herself and their kids in a country they may not know anyone. Leaving her support network might not seem to appealing to them. What would I prefer were I Kane. A champions League medal or to break every record at the club I love. I’m going for the latter. It’s not a given he’ll win stuff elsewhere. Just like it’s not a given he won’t win stuff in the next 3 4 years here

A good point Tappa. Keep Sonny happy. Money’s not the concern here.

Maybe he’s waiting to see what Harry does. The Euros will be important for Harry, its the shop window for players, a big tournament and his fee rockets.

Mid table player at best. Exactly where he belongs at Everton.

Only places I can see realistically tempting him are Real Madrid and Poch’s PSG. The former because, well it’s Real Madrid – sunshine and success beckon. PSG because DiMaria is past his peak, Poch is there, they have the money, and he’ll be guaranteed champions league football.

He won’t sign a new deal here unless there is a bonus and a reasonable release clause, imo. Nor would I, in his place.

Giving up your peak athletic years, to rot in a mid table team under a manager playing boring, ineffective football, with no Champions league? Not for me, Clive.

We need to bring his “monster” fellow countryman in. Son would like that A LOT. we need to keep son sweet by any means necessary. He looks better than both Sanchez and dier

If he’s stalling can you blame him? The team is going backwards…

I had McGinn, Tom Davies, Hagi Jr as players to get 18 months/2 years ago. If we had got them 3 instead of Bergwijn, Gedson and Vinicius things would look a hell of alot sweeter. Add Grealish instead of Moura and we would be cooking.
That’s the difference between someone looking at things in footballing priority rather than buyrite penny pinching.
Irony is my players would av been pretty affordable.

I said about 18 months ago a few times we should get Tom Davies from Everton, he was in and out but I could see he had all the attributes to be a great midfielder. Now under Ancelotti he’s coming into his own. Another missed opportunity.
And yet another odd result so far for the bookies at Anfield….

I think if its not signed b4 the transfer window opens and the right offer comes in then he is gone.
