Eric Dier was acing his audition as a future Tottenham centre-back before giving away a penalty which cost us a crucial win in our comeback match against Manchester United.
The fresh legs of Paul Pogba were able to skip around the 26-year-old by the right byline and a light tap on the shoulder was enough to send the Frenchman sprawling to the ground for United’s 16th penalty of the season in all competitions. Is there really enough contact here to warrant a foul? Maybe it’s the frustration talking, but it looks to me like Pogba pulls Dier into his body and then goes down.
This is BRILLIANT from Pogba to win United the penalty… pic.twitter.com/4tWagt5lBo

Bruno Fernandes stuck the spot kick away with authority into the bottom corner to earn United a 1-1 draw.
Not the worst result but I can’t help but feel a sense of injustice. Yes the second half was a slog and on one hand we were fortunate to hang on, but on the other the ref has handed them a point.

I think with 5 subs dier should of been off just to keep defence fresh with 25 mins to go but hindsight and all that
Dier was naive, but he got turned inside out. It was soft and a dive, but a penalty
nonetheless. The second penalty was a joke. Never even looked close in real time.
Old refs can’t help themselves when Utd are involved.
Dier will learn but it will be too late.
