League champions now interested in signing Tottenham man in January

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur stalwart Eric Dier finds himself at the center of transfer speculations as the January window approaches.

The seasoned centre-back has fallen out of favor under manager Ange Postecoglou after failing to impress him.

Dier has only played twice this season, featuring as a substitute against Chelsea and making a start against Wolves. This has further raised concerns about his future at the club.

Ange has gone as far as preferring Emerson Royal over him during the absence of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Reports suggested that Levy is keen on cashing in on him in January rather than letting him go on a free transfer in the summer.

AS Roma, managed by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, have recently expressed their interest in signing the 29-year-old while Turkish side Fenerbahce are also said to be keen on securing his services.

However, fresh reports from Il Mattino have added Serie A champions Napoli to the list of suitors eyeing Dier’s services.

The report claims that Napoli are seeking a loan deal, but that is going to be a problem since Dier’s contract expires in the summer.

Spurs will be looking for a permanent deal where they can benefit financially from the move.

Meanwhile, the North London club have made signing a new centre-back their priority and are linked with several players, Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice being the name most strongly linked.

In the event that they fail to sign a new defender, Dier could end up staying, otherwise all signs points towards a potential sale next month .
