Jose Mourinho has insisted that Erik Lamela is not fit enough to start Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday.
The Argentine has made two effective cameos off the bench of late, but Mourinho told his pre-match press conference that Lamela still isn’t training properly with the squad because of an unspecified injury.

Mourinho once again praised the 27-year-old’s attitude and willingness to help out the team, but ruled out him returning to the starting lineup.

I can’t believe the club are still investing time and money into a guy whose output is nowhere near good enough to forgive an atrocious injury record.
Any time Lamela spends on the pitch is time that could be invested in players who are actually going to be fit when the squad really needs them.
Lamela should be in on merit, injuries allowing. He can play AND press – something we used to do and have now lost. Not playing someone because they’re injury prone, when they’re doing a good job, is a waste. Also, advocating picking a team based on the same criterion is dumb.
If only he was a Datsun/Toyota. my old Datsun 100A never let me down.
Very good player who makes an impact. Good to see Lamela show us as a team what is needed. What does Jose think? He takes the time to explain why he can’t start him and always speaks about him in positive terms. But what would the serial winner know?
