COVID-19 Positive? Some Spurs Fans Worried About Star Player’s Absence From Practice Match | video

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham fans got to see the boys in match action for the first time in nearly three months with yesterday’s highlights of an 11 vs. 11 practice game.

But a lot of supporters were more concerned about the player who wasn’t there – Giovani Lo Celso.

One Spurs player tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest round of Premier League tests and these fans on social media have jumped to the worst conclusion of why the Argentine did not feature.

Spurs want to keep the identity of the player in question private, but The Guardian does understand it is not a “key first-team player”.

You’d have thought that would have ruled out Lo Celso whose pre-lockdown form put him in that category for most. But The Guardian’s source may disagree, and the 22 players out there for the practice match has narrowed down the mystery to just a handful of names, of which Lo Celso is one.

I’m not twisted enough to wish it is somebody else instead. But some clarity on the situation would stop the few insensitive people from doing just that.
