“I think he needs a new challenge” Robinson says 25-year-old Spurs star should leave

By Bruce Grove -

Paul Robinson has revealed that he believes that Dele Alli needs a change of environment after a terrible season.

The Englishman remains one of the best players at Tottenham at the moment, but Jose Mourinho froze him out of the team at the start of this campaign.

The current AS Roma boss had been unimpressed by Alli’s performances and kept him out of his team for much of his time at the helm.

The Englishman gained some relevance when Ryan Mason replaced Mourinho temporarily, but Robinson reckons that leaving the club for good, will probably be the best thing that Alli can do for himself now.

The club’s new manager will probably have to be appointed before they start selling or buying new players and Alli’s future will be at the top of what he needs to sort out.

Robinson says Dele is young and needs a change of scenery to get him back in top shape.

“Dele needs a fresh start,” he told Football Insider, “I think he needs a new challenge.

“He is still so young and people forget his age. He has been at Spurs a long time now and without a doubt it will have been the toughest year of his career. I think he needs new voices and new surroundings.

“A fresh start will bring out the best in him I think. We saw flashes of brilliance from him this season. I think he is a phenomenal talent, I really do.

“Every time he was given an opportunity this year he looked sharp. When he played in the cup sometimes he was the best player on the pitch. I cannot understand why Dele wasn’t used more to be honest.

Try reading this morning’s piece and in particular the bit about living in a hotel – there’s more to the world than Premier Inn’s outside Redditch, mate

14 month deal to run at PSG or a fresh three year deal at Spurs on the same money, not living in a hotel? 🤔

Rashford to Obama: “For me, being in sports I just knew my life would change very very quickly and if I wasnt mature enough or y`know at a certain level in my own head, then it makes stuff like fame and bits like that even more difficult to cope with”.

Dele in All or Nothing: “When you brush your teeth, do you put, eeh what order do you do it? Do you wet your toothbrush, put the toothpaste on then wet the toothbrush again”?

I know its unfair, as the circumstances surrounding the two quotes were way different. But gotta hand it to Rashford, he seems quite level-headed. Dele has perhaps not reached the same level of enlightenment yet.

Eriksen, Dier and Dele probably valued at £200 million three years ago. I think you’d do well to get £80 million for the three of them now.

“People forget his age” – I guarantee this is the one thing no one has forgotten about Dele, ever. How long will the “He’s only xx years old” excuses last? He’s 25 and has been bypassed by players four or five years younger.
