“I have to talk to the club” – Antonio Conte ponders future at Spur after Burnley loss

By Eddie Razo -

Coming off the high of defeating Manchester City on the road, Tottenham Hotspur hoped that the result would be a launching pad for them to fight for a top-four spot. However, that wasn’t the case.

Facing a Burnley side in a relegation presented an opponent that Spurs could build off their win at the Etihad Stadium. Nonetheless, Tottenham once again dropped points to a club below them in the table, falling 1-0 to Burnley on Wednesday night.

After the loss, the Daily Mail relayed the remarks made by manager Antonio Conte, who discussed his possible future with the north London club.

“I have to talk to the club,” Conte said. “I am too honest to close my eyes and continue in this way, and also take my salary. “I want to take my responsibility. I am open for every decision because I want to help Tottenham.”

“I came in to try and improve the situation with Tottenham, but maybe in this moment, I am not so good to improve it. I’m trying to do everything to change the situation, but the situation is not changing.”

After losing four of their last five Premier League fixtures, Tottenham’s aspirations to finish in the top four seem bleak. Furthermore, dropping points against three opponents where they were the favorite makes this stretch of results a tough pill to swallow.

“Someone has to speak about the race for the fourth place, and the reality from the last five games is we have to pay attention to not fight for the relegation zone,” Conte said. “This is the truth, this is the reality, and when this type of situation happens, maybe there is something wrong.”

“I’m too honest to close my eyes and to continue to say, “OK, I want to finish the season in this way, and OK, my salary is good.” I want to make an assessment with the club.”

It will be interesting to see if these remarks foreshadow the future of Conte with Spurs.

This certainly looks like the beginning of the end.Levy will not like the public rubbishing of his policies in the transfer market and his vision for the club.Conte could well be gone by the end of the month.

Jeez only just seen this,
It really does seem like the prelude to an exit.

Tottenham – the club that break managers.

FFS Lewis act now before this club drops any further.

Unfortunately this is starting to play exactly into Levy’s hand. And Levy will know when exactly to strike

The Levy-ists will say Conte must go, Levy would be right to sack Cpnte etc etc (you can already see this in HYS on BBC for example)

But most of us know where the blame lies. I just hope that Spurs value will start to drop rapidly and make ENIC wish they had accepted 3bn because I am sure we will not be worth that much the way things are going.

Maybe a finish completely out of the European slots, closer to relegation, a complete circus show to find someone would want to mange us and reduced attendance will be the final coffin for ENIC.

I hate that I am wishing for all this to happen, but this is what Levy and ENIC have created. They have made me hate supporting Spurs. Even my dad, who had worked at Tottenham and has been a fan for over 60 years has had enough.

Well done ENIC ! Only you could appoint two of the games most decorated managers and see them walk away with nothing to show for their efforts. What you have done to my/ our club is shameful. I hate what we’ve become.

As much as the Juv lads are ok, they are not what we needed to support Conte…all this talk of waiting till the summer is white noise….there will be more 2nd, 3rd choices coming in…Levy just doesn’t get it..
