“I don’t care” – Frank Lampard responds to the criticisms of adding Dele Alli to Everton

By Eddie Razo -

Last week, Tottenham Hotspur decided to say goodbye to midfielder Dele Alli who left for Everton on a performance-based type deal.

The 25-year-old had failed to rediscover his past form under Mauricio Pochettino with managers like Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo, and Antonio Conte at the helm since the departure of the Argentine tactician in 2019.

Everton manager Frank Lampard spoke with the media, where the BBC relayed his remarks regarding those criticizing the deal for Alli. Lampard stated that he doesn’t care what goes on outside the pitch with the former Spurs midfielder.

All he cares about is what he does during the training sessions and on matchdays for The Toffees.

“My opinion is that I don’t care what car he drives, what clothes he wears, as long as I get a lad that comes to training every day, wants to improve, respects the club, respects his team-mates and then produces and gives everything to produce,” Lampard said.

“The modern-day has moved on; it’s changed, we all have to be aware of that, and I’m not hitting back at any observation because everyone is allowed their own opinion, but I can only deal with what is in front of me.

Once Alli makes 20 appearances for Everton, they’ll have to pay £10-million. The performance add-ons in this deal could see Tottenham get £40-million for the midfielder, so the north London club would want to see Alli succeed because of the fee that can come their way.

Of course I’m sure. He scored against the likes of Colchester and Burnley. He was poor in the ropey and the prem. Look at who he scored against.. This was after spending 2 months injured and 3 months getting ‘fit’…. Now look at what he’s doing right now, back at Madrid he’s played two games. He’s been injured all season. He was a busted flush last year for us, scored a couple of nice goals against sub par opponents but he was a huge flop in general….. It was Kane who was doing the business that season in a poor team with his golden boot and top assists.

The truth is Dele is a ‘luxury player’ at best…but how many teams in the modern game can afford carrying a luxury player, especially one misfiring trying to play his way back to form?

Been my favourite non-Spurs player in the league for two years now – a real throwback player, dribble dribble dibble and so unpredictable for defenders. Has been adding an end product to his game this season, quality quality player

Because many of us would like to see all those people who hung onto Alli like a comfort blanket ..who thought he was a player that was merely hiding his brilliance under his pillow..proved wrong…that’s way..
You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone eh.

He’s Everton’s problem, not sure why he’s still gaining traction in this sub?

All the doubters about Saint-Maximin should watch his performance tonight for Newcastle, what a player.

Indeed. Everton currently 3-1 down at Newcastle. Lampard did poorly at Chelsea. Tuchel replaced him and they were transformed (unfortunately).

Fat Frank making an impression at the Toon… another managerial appointment that’s doomed to failure. He’s got nothing in the locker that proves he can be a manager at PL level. Everton deserve to fail for such a bad appointment.

Dele comes off the bench and provides an assist for Newcastle to take the lead.

You’re living in the past. This is a new era and we’ve currently got one of the best managers in the world at our club. Forget Gareth Bale ffs he’s had his spurs reunion and it wasn’t great was it let’s be honest. We should be looking forward not getting misty eyed over a well past his best ex yid who didn’t win a single honour during his time with us. Move on mate! Back Conte 💪🏽

I hope Dele does well. He was part of a truly thrilling period of Spurs history where we competed with the best and played some wonderful football. He has a legacy with me even if he engages in totally alien tastes and spends his money seemingly unwisely. I’m not sure I would do different at his age and with the money he gets.

16 Goals in spite of the manager who didn’t want to play him.

Dele’s attitude was there for all to see. He is in a work environment and should behave and dress in a more professional manner. Glenn as always was totally right.

It will be interesting to see if Lampard manages to get a tune out of Dele when it is obvious that Poch, Jose, Maureen and Conte failed to do so. I’ve listened to Lampard before when he managed Chelsea and he comes across as confident in what he says albeit lacking guile and nuance. While I agree that what goes on in training and in games is the most important factor I find it hard to separate out the rest of any players life as if nothing else matters. For me Dele’s head was elsewhere for ages and it caught up with him with poor performances on the pitch. I would be surprised if Lampard’s current optimism isn’t altered over the coming weeks to align more with Dele’s previous, more illustrious, managers views. Glen Hoddle is entitled to have an opinion too along with retired boxers and the rest of us.

Everton seem to be running a social rehab club for unloved and lost footballers.

Too much too soon!! Turning up in a £300K car on the first day of training at his new club just shows where he is with his life. No hunger, no desire, the cracks were showing in the last six months of Poch’s reign.

If fat Frank builds a team around him, and have other players doing the donkey work you may get 30 minutes out of Dele in every match at best.

He’s been p**s poor for 3 seasons now

Hope Dele can find himself again.. Otherwise he is a bona fide two season wonder….. Elsewhere in the Spanish press, Bale is coming back to Spurs in the summer.. Thanks but no thanks Gareth.
