One of the fails of Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham was his constant tinkering of the team.
The Portuguese manager was under serious pressure to impress at the club and hardly settled for a preferred starting XI.
He instead kept changing players and sometimes formations as he looked to get the best from his current group.
However, that also didn’t work and he lost his job quicker than he would have thought.
Former Tottenham player, Graham Roberts believes Antonio Conte will take a different approach to player selection.
He believes unlike Nuno Santo, the Italian will find a system that works and stick to it.
Roberts told This is Futbol: “He needs to find his best team and knowing what he’s done before he will stick with that team. He won’t be like Nuno changing one or two players every game. He will stick to his system and his team and hopefully he will get it right.”
The Boy Hotspur Says
Constantly changing players and systems was one of the obvious signs that Nuno Santo didn’t know what he was doing at Spurs.
Conte is a more stable manager and he has shown in spells at other clubs that he knows exactly how to set his team up for success.
One key part of his system is the use of wing-backs and he has already deployed it at Spurs.
He will hope the current players adapt to the new system before this season ends.
