In Premier League competition, Tottenham Hotspur has only scored more than two goals once through nine games. One of the issues that supporters and media members point out is the lack of creativity from the midfield since the departure of Christian Eriksen.
The north London-based club has failed to fill those shoes, and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara discussed how these problems once again reared their ugly head in Tottenham’s 1-0 loss over the weekend to West Ham United.
Furthermore, O’Hara pointed his displeasure at one player in the midfield, Tanguy Ndombele. The 24-year-old hasn’t lived up to the €62-million transfer fee that the Premier League side paid for in 2019. As a result, the fanbase is losing their patience with the France international.
“We just have a distinct lack of creativity; the No.10 position is a massive problem for us. I don’t think Ndombele is good enough, he does things in drips and drabs, really, he will do something out of the blue where you think he has got something, and then he goes missing for 15 minutes,” O’Hara said.
“Creativity is a huge problem for us, we haven’t replaced Eriksen, and he went off the boil for half a season because he wanted out. It’s almost like we’ve had three seasons without a really good No.10, and Spurs have always had a brilliant creative player in there. You go back to [Rafael] van der Vaart and [Luka] Modric and players like that.”
Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici failed to address the lack of creativity in the midfield. The January transfer window is around the corner, and it will be interesting to see whether he addresses the matter there or waits until the summer.
Somebody put up a clip explaining the Tanguy situation.
Not interested/Plays a bit/Thinks he should be at RM etc/Loses Interest
Repeat
I dont think a chat with our genius CEO is going to cure him,
He should never have made it past the spreadsheet.
Deffo need a proper playmaker in the middle of the park a la Eriksen. N’Dombele can break the lines for about 60 mins but is then blown out, giving us no options if we’re down for the latter part of any game.
Just like the backing from the owners.
All filters through the club from the top, utter mediocrity…
Oliver Skipp is Levy’s academy ‘success story’, he’s going nowhere and he and PEH offer zero creativity so it’s up to the number 10 and none of ours are up to the job. Dele isn’t a playmaker, Tangy is supposed to be but he’s a total wimp. Can’t drop Kane in there because we’ve go no other senior central striker, so we have nobody.
Just indicative of the terrible running of the football by Levy, yet again…
He might be a bit unconsidered in his comments but at least he’s being honest. Tangy needs to understand that being a top level footballer needs the kind of commitment he has yet failed to exhibit…
I think Brian Gil was the extent of Paratici’s efforts to bring in creativity. Yet another development player.
Rodon, Sessingnon, Gil etc, fine, bring in younger players but make sure they’re ready to compete for a place ffs. They might all be brilliant in about three years time, until then they’d be best served by being loaned out and that helps our first team to no extent whatsoever.
Yet more ‘jam tomorrow’ sh*te from Levy…
The whole bloody team go missing!
But when he played against a third rate midfield in the Newcastle match he looked great! And don’t forget all the praise after his cameo against Wycombe in January and that goal against Sheffield United.
He’s the ultimate YouTube / ADHD player for people who just glimpse 20 seconds of play across 90 minutes and throw childish terms like ‘baller’ at him, while ignoring the rest of the time that he spends traipsing around the pitch wishing he was anywhere else.
O’Hara is a Muppet, there’s a vid on YT of him spouting what a great window we had. Utter moron.
