Free Transfers & Swap Deals Is All Jose Will Get| report

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham’s transfer activity this summer will be limited to free transfers and swap deals due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

That is according to Dan Kilpatrick of the London Evening Standard who understands that Jose Mourinho is braced for huge restrictions as he aims to redesign a Spurs squad that has declined dramatically over 18 months.

As Football London details, Daniel Levy had previously earmarked a £50m budget for the recruitment team in the event that Spurs did not qualify for the Champions League – we were seven points adrift of fourth with nine games to play when the season was postponed in March – if anybody remembers that historic concept of the 2019-20 Premier League table?

But the continued absence of football and thus matchday revenue, and the cancellation of major events scheduled at the new stadium, has hit us hard and apparently forced Daniel Levy into reining spending in even further.

This is an inevitability of the current crisis that all clubs are going to have to accept. Kilpatrick adds Arsenal and Man Utd are planning frugle summers.

Hopefully a few clubs out there will still be buying and we can bring in some cash from selling the likes of Aurier, Rose, Walker-Peters and Lamela to supplement the frees, swaps and loans, giving Jose a fighting chance.

All fans in the EPL will advocate spending to improve this season, even Liverpool. Lots of comments for years about our three windows where we bought no one and stood still-ergo moving us backwards. We did worse than that though, if we can do worse than moving backwards! We have lost Dembele and Eriksen since and did not replace either. That was borderline criminal to us fans from Levy. The problem is, Liverpool, City and Chelsea etc might want to buy improvements but they can still compete next season if they do not. We cannot. We need quality in midfield, defence and still a back up striker, if we were to miraculously keep Kane. I am a pessimist on the best of days, but I cannot even be that positive at the moment!

Anyone thinking that Levy is serious about making us League Champions one day is a deluded idiot. One or two on here, thankfully in the complete minority. Funny that… 😂

Transfer money will very hard to come by. Our rejects will not generate anything worth talking about. There will be no buyers at prices levy will ask for, therefore we will keep all of them.

Aurier, Rose, Walker – Peters and Lamela, wow that line up will bring the money rolling in. A fifty million budget, to compete with City, Liverpool, and Chelsea, what a laugh. And now we don’t even have fifty million. It just gets better and better.

As some of us are predicting, no Champions League for many years now. A has-been manager used to massive budgets working with a non existent budget.

Only Levy could allow us to end up in this mess after being in a Champions League final less than 18 months ago.

He’s just a penny wise, pound foolish bore with zero imagination or understanding of football…

Hands off our club con men.

ENIC OUT.
