“For me, I don’t think it would be (a good move)” Bent says striker shouldn’t join Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

Darren Bent has urged Danny Ings not to make a move to Tottenham as he contemplates leaving Southampton.

The Englishman has emerged as one of the Premier League’s deadliest strikers and would feel he needs to be playing at a bigger team now.

He is negotiating a new contract with the Saints, but speculation about his future have seen Tottenham linked with a move for him.

The Lilywhites have Carlos Vinicius as a backup to Harry Kane, but the Brazilian is only here on loan from Benfica.

He hasn’t impressed enough to get chances in the Premier League, and Ings has been seen as a better option.

But Bent says Ings is the main man at Southampton and should stay there because Tottenham already has their main man.

Bent said on talkSPORT, “For me, I don’t think it would be (a good move), no, just because of the sheer fact that he is Southampton’s main man, he has scored a lot of goals for Southampton, he has played very, very well.

“He is their, as I said, main man. We know who Tottenham’s main man is, and he plays a lot of games, Harry Kane.”

Every winning team has top stars in different positions and adding Ings to the current Tottenham squad will only help the Lilywhites get better.
