Erik Lamela has come in for criticism for his foul on Dwight McNeil in Tottenham’s game against Burnley.
The foul wasn’t the best as the Argentinean showed his studs while making the tackle.
The referee didn’t give him his marching orders, but some fans have looked at the incident and they think that it should have been a red card.
With VAR now available to the referees, the game has seen several inconsistent decisions being made and the technology has consistently earned criticism for those inconsistencies.
That foul was yet another one that was missed by VAR and at another time, it probably would have been given as a red card.
However, speaking at the press conference after the game, Sean Dyche refused to say that the Tottenham man deserved a red card.
Instead, he commented on how the game has now become more complicated and fouls that no one would consider giving before are now being given.
When asked about the foul, he said as quoted by Lancashire Live: “It could have been punished but I would hope not
“It (the game) has diluted down to a new level of weakness to be honest so I don’t want to start taking moments that are not bad moments, a little bit loose maybe but not terrible moments.
“That used to be the norm, I am not saying I want it but my point is that I don’t think you can start over thinking all of these things.”
The Burnley bruiser doesn’t complain about fouls, it’s what he trains his own team to do. Respect to him anyway.
Was just thinking that alot of managers would of moaned
big ups to dyche there.
