Pundit claims that Levy has shown that he really wanted this man at Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

Jamie Brown suggested on the Last Word On Spurs podcast that Daniel Levy’s summer backing of Jose Mourinho proves that he was really keen to hire the former Chelsea manager.

Tottenham fired Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of last year after the Argentinean manager struggled to motivate his players and get a good performance from them.

They had reached the final of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, and they were expected to build on that last season.

It never really happened at the start of the season and the club had to fire the manager and bring in a new face.

Mourinho was brought in and despite missing Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for much of his stint last season, the Portuguese manager helped the club to qualify for the Europa League.

In their bid to end their wait for another trophy, they have backed the manager heavily in this transfer window.

Levy isn’t one to splash the cash around in a summer transfer window, but despite the challenges that the club is facing due to the coronavirus pandemic, he has managed to give Mourinho the players that he asked for.

Brown thinks that shows how keen he was to make the Portuguese the club’s manager.

He said as quoted by This is Futbol: “It just shows you that Daniel Levy really, really wanted Jose Mourinho as his manager – the way that he went and backed him over the summer was fantastic, and we’ve never really seen that from Daniel Levy. Clearly, he trusts in Jose Mourinho.

“You have to give Jose Mourinho the right tools for him to be able to deliver, he obviously [wanted a certain type] of player – leaders [who instil] the right mentality in the dressing room, and [Levy] went and gave that to him.

“We obviously had a lot of quality in that team, we just needed to add bits around it, and we added the right types of players, we added the gaps that we were missing, and now we’ve got a team that’s looking really good.”

Why? To undermine/belittle the current winner manager why else. More fool them. Let them do so at their own peril. I’d recommend they keep their mouths shut. José ain’t playing.

Why do some people keep insisting that Levy has backed Jose( heavily )when he spent a lot more the previous season with Poch, the highest nett spend in the league apparently. Spurs did good business this summer bringing in the right players but all for less than an average player like Pepe cost the gooners.

Arguably the most tedious contributor on the lowest IQ Spurs podcast. ‘Arguably’ because the competition is ferocious.
