Dele Alli Practice Match Goal: Aurier The Assist King At It Again | video

By Joe Fish -

Serge Aurier’s attacking output has improved significantly this season, although it should when the entire system is built to go through you.

Love him or hate him, our chasm of alternatives at right-back means we’re sure to get more of him when the Premier League season restarts later this month, and hopefully that means more assists like this one for Dele Alli in an 11 vs. 11 practice match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday.

The less said about the defending the better – Ryan Sessegnon makes a half-hearted attempt to stop the cross and Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier were taking their social distancing from Dele very seriously in the box.

But the cross was the type which has helped Aurier to seven assists for the season, the second-most in the Spurs squad behind Son Heung-min.

You’re right about the defending. There was no press, all the players are in the defending half, yet one long pass to an unmarked Serge kills them. Like a broken clock, even Aurier gets it right twice a day……..just waiting for his other one!
