‘Complicated situation’ Hugo Lloris discusses the exit of Tanguy Ndombele from Spurs

By Eddie Razo -

During the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur decided to part ways with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, sending the 25-year-old to Olympique Lyonnais on a loan deal.

Spurs captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris discussed his departure with the transfer of Ndombele to the Premier League side. Lloris stated to L’Equipe that his former teammate needed to get playing time since, at Tottenham, he was in a complicated situation.

“He was in a somewhat complicated situation at Tottenham,” Lloris said. “He longed for a little more playing time, which he found in Lyon, in an environment he knows very well, with people who show him a lot of affection, and, to revive himself, it’s certainly the best choice he could make.”

Lloris also added that Ndombele lacked rigor and regularity while with the north London club, but the qualities and the love of the game are there.

“We all know his talent, which has never been questioned at Tottenham. He still has pure talent. He does things other people can’t. Here, he made incredible matches, sometimes. And behind his somewhat nonchalant look, he has a good background, and he really likes football,” Lloris said.

Despite being at a club where he’s familiar with and getting playing time, Ndombele reportedly won’t be staying long in Lyon. According to the Evening Standard, Lyon has decided against paying Ndombele’s clause, and the 25-year-old is expecting to return to Tottenham for the 2022-23 season.

Nonetheless, suppose Ndombele performs as he did against West Ham United in the first left of their quarter-final match up in the UEFA Europa League. In that case, Spurs might get a buyer to offload the midfielder.

No big club wanted him, he was scouted and checked out by the likes of Barca but none of them opened negotiations. So I’m sure Lyon used the interest in him to get Levy at it with his age being about 22 at the time…

Levy just doesn’t to ‘mothers of all challenges’ when it comes to managers. He’d “pwefer” them to walk…

Levy got smoke blown up his Harris re NDembele as with Baldini and the Bale money. When you think of the intel available on Tanguy it is ridiculous he ever came to Spurs..

He was dragging us down, now look at the difference in attitude and commitment from players, it’s a more settled team and confidence has grown.
Under any circumstances, do not let this waster back, even if it means losing out financially.

“Complicated” translates directly from the the polite parlance used by Hugo into; massive f*ck up…

Of course it is a complicated situation. We were truly turned over in signing this mug and now we will be looking for another idiot to take him off our hands for 50M and pay him 200K a week.Unless we cut our losses which apparently the arse are prepared to do with Pepe, we could very well be stuck with him while he runs down his contract. Sound familiar?

Modric and then Bale was a long time ago now. When was the last time he turned a massive profit on a player in that way? He could have done with Dele and Eriksen a few years back, he got greedy and the moment passed. It’s pot luck with him, he hasn’t got a clue.

Actually at that time he was probably more interested in bribing the Mayor Of London. Or something…

As usual, all roads lead to Levy. An incompetent, micro-managing tool of an owner.

keeping Conte happy this summer is going to be the mother of all challenges for Levy. Beyond the obvious need to have deals done, with minimal fuss, for the permanent exits of Ndondom and no show, he’ll need to have the major incoming business wrapped up before a preseason bead of sweat has been shed. Is any of this likely? Not a chance in hell IMO. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to be proven wrong though. COYS!

Agree. Shocking mismanagement of funds to spend money on such a deeply flawed character. Levy thought he could smell another Modric or Bale yet he just got turned over by a savvy football club. As usually happens to the little pri**.

our inability to go to the next level – be it under Jol, Redknapp, Poch – is purely down to our terrible ownership. Will they prioritize the football team now that we all see the managerial genius of Conte? Time will tell but I wouldn’t expect Conte to stick around if Levy continues his usual transfer nonsense. I fully expect the usual Alligator arms from the bald midget. Enic out.

Adel Taarabt was better than Ndom, but talent alone doesn’t make a footballer. Unfortunately, some idiot (*coughs Hitchen) sanctioned nigh on £60m for Ndom whilst paying him £10m a year in wages. That sort of money should not have been spent on a one season wonder with a pretty useless attitude (that could have been found on Google!).

Everything about this transfer has underlined the issues in Spurs’ recruitment before Paratici arrived. Although, when you have Emerson and Kulusevski on your cv there seems to be an element of dice throwing going on. Bit like Nuno to Conte.

What few have stated about getting Nuno is he was not first choice, in fact, depending what you read he was anything from fifth to ninth choice. Therefore, why couldn’t we get second or third choice after Conte turned us down?

As it stands Conte is sorting it out (or are Leicester, Utd and Arsenal having a mare?) but why can’ we get our house in order well before a season starts? Will this Summer be any different?

Read most of comments when the January widow closes, we bought 2 rejects from Juve in typical Levy style at the last minute. Not many came back to put their hands up to say how wrong they were. Aside from Nuno and Royal Paratici has done a masterful job, well Golini is a dud, there is hope he is going to correct lots of the mistakes made in the past including Tanguay. This is the time to enjoy who and what we have in a run to final the 4 and 2 slips and we catch Chelsea, that is where the focus should be until the window opens for summer business. Anything else is pure distraction from celebrating the incredible turn around. Take a front seat and come from behind the sofa.

we were sold a Pup. A very costly Pup that shows how defunct the ENIC FC Transfer Policy has cost Spurs. Lets hope that it has changed.

It is a concern for the club what happens to him – will he just cruise and let his contract run down or will some sucker come in and pay £25m for him.
Hugo was being diplomatic but we can all think of a good old Anglo Saxon word to sum Mr N up.

It seems the young DumbBell needs everything set up just how he needs it, to even play 90 mins of football. Hugo is being honest but also kind to the lad, he’s our skipper and he’s got a PR role as well.

I’m sure if you spoke to Hugo off the record, he’d say that his attitude is basically atrocious…
