Columnist reckons Levy lost out to PSG in Alli transfer saga talks

By Bruce Grove -

Daniel Levy has developed the reputation of being one of the most cut-throat business executives in the football world.

He is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and seems to always have his way

However, it has now been revealed that he didn’t get his way in negotiations with PSG over the loan move of Dele Alli.

Alli has been out of the first-team picture at Tottenham for much of this season, and the Frenchmen were keen to land him in the summer.

Spurs rejected their bid to loan him for the rest of the season, despite his lack of action at the start of the campaign.

The French side returned for his signature last month and it was still an unsuccessful pursuit, Football Insider has now revealed that Levy lost because he wanted the French champions to pay a loan fee and pay all his wages.

They rejected his proposal. Now Spurs are stuck with a player that isn’t contributing.

Kieran Maguire says on that rare occasion, he was on the losing side.

“It is a misstep for Levy but that’s just the way these things go,” he told Football Insider.

“He is an excellent poker player and sometimes the other person actually calls your bluff.

“He wanted all the wages paid as well as a loan fee. There’s an issue now because Spurs are still having to pay the wages.

“Having said that, the way they are playing recently, it could be to Spurs benefit. They need some sort of catalyst at present and maybe he could be it further down the line.”

Not a bad article but isnt that fairly regular to get them to take his wages plus a smallish loan fee?
Anyway although I dont think Bamidele is the sharpest tool in the box (of tools) it is his time
