CBS Sports|’…defined role in his next team’ is the key influencer for Spurs target

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur was linked to Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus who is reportedly on his way to Arsenal. However, despite the rumors connecting the north London club to the Brazilian, the interest for the 25-year-old falling by the wayside.

According to CBS Sports Ben Jacobs, Spurs had “cooled” interest in Jesus for the past few days, further proof Jesus favors a move to The Gunners. Furthermore, the report states that UEFA Champions League football doesn’t seem as crucial as a defined role in his next team.

When it comes to pursuing a forward, Jacobs says that Tottenham will turn their attention to Everton’s Richarlison, with Chelsea remaining interested, too.

It will be interesting to see if the north London club can land The Toffees star, who is keen on moving away from Goodison Park this summer and possibly looking to join a club that will be playing Europe’s top competition next season.

Richarlison is under contract with Everton until 2024 and is coming off a season, where he scored 11 goals in 33 appearances.

Ever go back and check the sources. Twitter and some excited fan sitting in Central Park in the United States charming stuff out. Jesus was not coming. It makes no sense. RICHARLISON is about 15M over priced if we are to believe what is in the papers who also peg Jesus at 60M. The defenders are waiting for Madrid and some other big club to come in, but the phones are not ring. So you think Spurs can negotiate with agents whom their client interest are else where. For the record, I would not sign Spence or Raphinha. Max Aaron and give Gil a run. The left side will be about Sessengnon covering for Perisic
The right is Doherty holding the spot and Roysl getting better in year 2. I don’t see all the fuss. Next week may change my mind if we don’t get deals across the line and some outgoings.

I said for weeks. No way we are link or should be linked even though I like him. The fact is he will be leaving from one situation into similar one. Why would he do that. Kane going 90 game after game. But they keep cranking out this nonesense every day. One publication already come out and said. He was never even a thought amongst Spurs management.

I am a little disappointed that we havent been able to tie down one of the top 3 CBs on Conte’s list as that is his priority but so far so good.
Another thing that has surprised me is the prices of really good players in Phillips and Jesus both under £50m so the quotes for Raphina and Richarlison are way too high

Re: Forster and Hart before him..it was really about having enough British players to make quota while allowing max.flexibility in recruiting other positions. Gollini appeared to be a punt at finding a successor to Hugo, but he didn’t, convince so with Dele gone and Winks outbound, back to a reasonable backup who is willing to be second choice and ticks the nationality or homegrown box. It’s decent business overall, while we keep an eye out for a long term replacement. Johnstone was there for the taking, oh well.

Writers should define what “linked to” means. Two random fans on tweeter opine that “hey that City player Jesus is leaving, maybe he could be an option?” and suddenly journos are claiming he’s linked to us. Amusing stuff, and there is an article just waiting to be written when the transfer windows close – search out all the big press claims of players “linked” to your club and get a club source to comment on whether they even considered or looked at that player, talked to his club or agent, etc. You could absolutely pull the pants down of a lot of famous football journos who spout made up nonsense on the regular.

You can add all the PL chairmen and most of the European clubs to that list

Boro know who they are dealing with and are not going to back down according to comments from their manager Wilder .

I hope Conte reminds Levy pretty soon to stop fucking aaround with negotiations and let the pros handle it.

When you look at our failures in the transfer market there is a consistent common denominator. And he has just re-inserted himself into ongoing negotiations regarding Spence.Predictably these have broken down and we are looking at a familiar scenario.Strange that.

Absolutely right. We have taken two free transfers, one of which does not solve the succession of Lloris and the other is thirty three years old. We have bought Bissouma who looks a good player and finally sold C-C-V. Levy took over the negotiations for Spence and surprise, surprise, they broke down. Jesus appears to have signed for Arsenal and we are linked with Richarlison, Raphina and even Sterling although I doubt Levy will sanction any of them and Chelsea have yet to make their moves. We have been linked with Bastoni, Bremer, Lenglet, Pau Torres amongst others for a CB berth and appear no closer to signing any of them. We are currently being linked with Zaniolo who has had two serious knee injuries in his career and Juve are after him as well.
Never mind the incomings where we are well behind our intention of signing 6-7 players, what about the outgoings? Apart from C-C-V, there appears to be little progress in selling the likes of Winks, Emerson, Sanchez, Bergwijn, Reguillon, Doherty, Lo Celso , N’Dombele and the like. I hope you are wrong but I suspect that what started as a well intentioned plan to make our signings early for once to enable them to be ready for the pre-season tour has foundered on the chairman’s track record of previous failure in the market.

A good start and here we are lagging behind again…deals are getting done elsewhere, no problems, no complications, just deals….what are we waiting for…we are a club that needs 6-7 players and so far we’ve spent 19m…Levy can’t even get a lad from the Championship…even West Ham have invested more than us…is it Spurs in the CL league, remind me, doesn’t look like it yet..
Don’t have a go – just telling the facts – if at the end of the window they’ve done well then I’ll change my opinion…
