Bild: Possible Lloris Replacement Snapped Up By Bayern

By Joe Fish -

Schalke 04 goalkeeper Alexander Nubel will join Bayern Munich on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to Sport Bild.

It was recently reported by talkSPORT’s Kevin Hatchard that we were “keeping an eye” on Nubel amidst Hugo Lloris’ indiffering form.

Schalke have already confirmed that Nubel will be leaving the club when his contract expires in the summer, but in a blow to Spurs the latest reports from Germany understand that his destination has been decided.

And unsurprisingly that is Bayern, who sweep up all of the best Bundesliga talent. Sport Bild reports that the 23-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Bavarians, and will eventually take the gloves from 33-year-old Manuel Neuer – the man who many have compared this young pretender to.

While some fans will identify right-back, central midfield and a back-up striker as transfer necessities, a new goalkeeper is equally important to Jose Mourinho’s team. Lloris had become a liability before his shoulder injury, and Paulo Gazzaniga is showing that is he is no more than a good deputy.

It may not be top of the priority list though, and that is why Nubel looked such an attractive option as he wouldn’t have significantly eaten into whatever budget Daniel Levy has set aside for the next two windows.

While Lloris is not as reliable as he once was, it would cost a fair chunk of money to replace him with somebody better. And a fair chunk of money is already needed elsewhere, as yesterday’s loss to Chelsea highlighted.

When I moved to Denmark it was a Thursday. On the Saturday I went to the nearest football match. Odense bk Vs bronby. Instant friends (outside of my lady’s friends and work at the ship yard). I love football. 😊

So, it’s looking increasingly like the only fan guilty of racism during the game was a Chavski fan towards Sonny. It also looks like Rudiger and the Chavski players cried wolf, probably to gain some kind of advantage.

Typically, classless behaviour by them. Once players start crying wolf over racist chanting it undermines other players who have actually been subjected to it during matches.

If this is true Rudiger should then face punishment for inciting the disruption.

Just because these isolated incidents of racist chants have been highlighted so much in the media (and rightly so), to accuse fans of doing it when they haven’t is pretty despicable behaviour…
