Barcelona turn down Tottenham offer but their asking price is still reasonable

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham took their interest in signing Barcelona’s Lucas de Vega to the next level by actually putting in a bid for the Brazilian.

He has been on the radar of Spurs for some weeks now after his fine performances on loan at Cartagena last season.

The 20-year-old is also interested in making a move to Tottenham according to reports and the Lilywhites wanted to make his dream come true.

Spanish paper, Sports claimed that Barcelona want to keep hold of the Brazilian prospect and they expect him to become an important member of their B team next season.

It further claims that Spurs did make a bid for him. The Lilywhites offered 2 million euros for his signature, but the Catalans rejected their offer and they have asked them to double that money.

Their goal is that Spurs will back out of the move and it seems to be working.

Spurs haven’t returned with a better offer for him, but 4 million euros isn’t a fee that is too much for the North London side to pay.

Jose Mourinho has been improving his first team for some time now, and he knows that de Vega will not be ready for the first-team action immediately should he join, that might see Spurs forget about him for now.

Grealish had at least played in the PL unlike this 20 year old who has only played in the third tier of Spanish football. They want £4m euros and another £4m in add on’s plus a buy back clause. If we can’t afford to buy players for the first team we shouldn’t be gambling on players for the under 23’s. This years Jack Clarke.

Meanwhile in the real world of football aspirations, Chelsea buy Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell and are close to signing Havertz with other signings on the way. If only Levy hadn’t laughed off Abramovich as a chancer all those years ago.

We’re offering 3.6 million pounds for an adult footballer?! What’s happening? Has the bottom finally dropped out of football or are we turning our attentions to bargain basement stragglers?
