Bad Review: Inter Legend Names 2 Reasons Why Eriksen Is Failing To Make It At San Siro

By Joe Fish -

Christian Eriksen has been a disappointment in his short time thus far at Inter Milan, according to club legend Luisitao Suarez.

After a protracted contract saga Eriksen eventually left Tottenham for the San Siro in January and has since made eight appearances, although five have come as a sub, contributing a goal and an assist apiece.

Suarez, who won three Serie A titles and a pair of European Cups with Inter in the 1960s, told Tutto Mercato Web that he is confused as to why Antonio Conte signed the Dane only to frequently start him on the bench.

He wonders it is whether it is because he lacks “character and aggression”.

“From what I saw he seemed like an excellent player but it is strange that a coach who made him buy does not let him play then,” Suarez told TMW.

“It seems to me that he lacks a bit of character and aggression.

“There is no need for a player of this kind at Inter. I hope to be wrong, but so far he has disappointed many Nerazzurri fans.”

Any Spurs fan who watched Eriksen more than a handful of times over the years could have told you that he lacks character and aggression.

The Dane was a wonderful player for us but simultaneously was one of the worst culprits for us not getting over the line to win a major trophy.

When a big game came along and we needed Eriksen to step up, more often than not he’d let us down. And that’s why he’s at Inter now and not Real Madrid.

A lot of my mates who are non Spurs fans believed the statistics about Eriksen, that he was truly awesome. We have another player like that, can you guess? Eriksen’s assists and goals outside the box, superb, and if we needed a winner v the likes of Everton, Bournemouth or Palace he was the man, but as everyone knows the big games past him by. This was frustrating but not everyone becomes world class. Like you wrote, if he was he wouldn’t be at Inter. He lacks pace and I can’t ever remember him winning one tackle. The former is difficult to improve, you’re either quick or you’re not. The tackling though, that is unforgivable. Any idiot can run around a bit and put a tackle in. HH wrote when Eriksen left not to expect him to suddenly start playing out of his skin, how right he was. Eriksen has played to such a mediocre level for so long that it will be difficult for him to change.
