As expected Poch makes Tottenham man his top January target

By Bruce Grove -

Mauricio Pochettino has made Dele Alli a transfer target for this month, according to the Guardian.

The former Tottenham manager has just been named the boss of PSG, and he helped them win the Trophée des Champions in less than 15 days at the helm.

He gave Alli his Tottenham debut, and they both enjoyed success together before Spurs sacked Poch in 2019.

Alli has struggled to recapture the form that he showed under the Argentinean for Jose Mourinho, and the Special One has sidelined him in London.

With the Englishman struggling for first-team chances, The Guardian says that he is keen for a change of scenery so that he can get his career back.

PSG will give Poch the right backing as they hope he helps them to remain a top European side and perhaps win the Champions League.

The French side wanted to sign Alli on loan in the last transfer window, but Tottenham rejected their offers.

Poch’s appointment could make the difference and help them finally get the breakthrough in the transfer.

The report adds that Spurs are struggling to allow him to leave them this month because of the number of fixtures that they have to play before the end of the campaign.

Also an issue is PSG have more money than anyone. So they can go for anyone. When signing the calibre of Mbappe and Neymar, would they even want Dele? Their squad is stronger than ours and he can’t get in our team.

Issue is more quotas, is there a home grown player we can get in to replace, I’m not sure in this window.

The reason they won’t sell him now is they don’t want to take a big discount. They’re hoping post Covid there’ll be more money in the game.

Two years ago after the World Cup Dele was a £90million player, now you’d be very lucky to get £40 million.
