A national team boss wants a Tottenham winger to leave “as soon as possible” this summer

Steven Bergwijn is one of the players that could be set for a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. A recent report suggests that Ajax is making a push to land the 24-year-old.

This past week, Eredivisie champions had an opening £15-million proposal rejected, but they’re reportedly coming back with an £18-million offer for the Netherlands international.

Nonetheless, regardless of whether the two clubs can strike a deal, one person urges Bergwijn to leave as soon as possible. Dutch boss, Louis van Gaal, is advising the winger to move to Ajax so he can secure his spot for the FIFA World Cup later this year.

“I want him (Bergwijn) to go to Ajax as soon as possible,” van Gaal said, per Mirror. “Tottenham don’t give him enough playing minutes, and that is unbelievable when you see his qualities.”

Bergwijn hasn’t lived up to the £26.5-million that the Premier League club paid two years ago when they brought him over from PSV Eindhoven to north London. As a result, the winger isn’t playing significant minutes under manager Antonio Conte.

With the World Cup around the corner, it’s why Bergwijn might want to exit to be prepared for the tournament as the Netherlands hopes to make a deep run.

Romano reporting that Spurs want 30 million euro for Stevie B and there are several interested parties other than Ajax.
Ajax trying to get him on the cheap.

Lol indeed.

He seems to score more goals playing centrally both in his few Spurs apps and his outings in the Dutch shirt..the down side to this are obvious …let him go for €24 million ..our mistakes are not the mistakes of Ajax.

He’s not worth much, it’s a tragedy, he flew into London within minutes of a deal being brokered. He needs to be in a gentler division.

Just checked out transfermarkt and Stevie B has dropped to 16.20million.. If you look at all his stats in his time with us then his numbers are low. The reason three managers didn’t play him much at all is telling. Even in the ropey and conference league where he had most minutes, he struggled and thats 2nd and 3rd tier European football.

Lol, you do love Stevie Burgers don’t you. He has bagged a few for the Dutch this qualifying, fair shout to him… But Depay is their main man up top, he’s been consistent, producing more goals and for years now.. I love the Dutch centre backs De Ligt and VVD. That’s the best centre back pairing in world football now Chiellini and Bonucci have had their day.

We should offer him to Villa for Mcginn.

If Bergwijn were bought by Newcastle, Everton or Villa he would become their main man very quickly and the 15 million so far offered by Ajax would be doubled.

The Dutch are probably frustrated that their best attacking option doesn’t get the chance to play regularly but until Spurs receive an acceptable offer they should retain Bergwijn.

Van Gall can do one.
