Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho facing multiple differences over the next few weeks

The relationship between Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy and manager Jose Mourinho is always going to be in the spotlight because of the characters of both men.

Levy is the big boss man, his word is the law at the Tottenham Stadium and no manager that has ever gone up against him has survived in the job for too long.

Mourinho is very outspoken and a moody individual that never takes kindly to not getting his way.

So, when Levy hired Mourinho it did raise eyebrows and I am not sure that there are too many that do not see this particular relationship ending in anything but tears.

The signs are there that there have already been some disagreements, we covered one of those with regards to Thomas Meunier, you can read up on that here.

Then there is the Tanguy Ndombele situation. There have been reports that the club, read that as Levy, do not want to lose the player this summer (Mail), however, there have also been reports that he has fallen out with Mourinho (90mins), who has rarely played him since the restart.

Now, there are reports that the “club” are keen on AS Roma youngster Nicolo Zaniolo (Guardian) and see him as one for the future but the 21-year-old is not a priority for Mourinho (HITC).

None of these on their own, I would suggest, would break the relationship between Levy and Mourinho but the more these small issues pile up the more the relationship between the chairman and manager will come under strain.

We all know what Mourinho is like when results go against him and he does not get the players he wants, just look back at his time with Man Utd (The Sun) and so if results do not improve on the pitch next season then it is hard to see this being an enduring partnership.

Zaniolo is just the latest so-called “disagreement” in thinking between the pair and I am of the strong opinion there will be many more through the summer.

No real story here, football is littered with stories of tension between managers and owners. Watching the ITV series on The European Cup winners and you hear about the behaviour of managers like Brian Clough and Ron Saunders Jose is an absolute pussycat by comparison. If the crux of the matter is that money is limited and Mourinho has to concentrate on old fashioned coaching and building team spirit then that might be a good thing. I’m still shocked by the standard of some players in the so called best league in the world. Players who haven’t even mastered the art of shooting maybe no one showed them how.

Fair point. They’re not the devils they are made out to be I reckon.

But it is all about their jobs, nothing else. What they do and how good they are outside of football has nothing to do with anybody but them and their Fam and friends. To think otherwise is very wrong.

I have an idea for the inept one (not you Jo you are turning out fine).
Buy a few more midfielders that always works.

Outside of their jobs not many people have a bad word to say about these two men.

He’s getting the results on the pitch as we can well see. So Levy doesn’t have to upgrade the squad. You know the old party line, ‘if there is a player we like maybe we can get them in but hey it’s a tough market out there. Got to sell b4 we can buy, the chairman makes the decisions, I’m only the manager. Top 4 if I was in charge from the get go, 5 from 6 match champs of nothing. Yada Yada Yada.
I’m sure that Daniel carries a fob watch. Look into my eyes, nobody else’s eyes (repeat from if, second line.

I imagine there will be some serious issues if we don’t address the weaknesses in our squad before adding “ones for the future”.
