Tottenham have apparently seen a £16m bid for Flamengo midfielder Gerson rejected out of hand.
The report from Goal elaborates that Daniel Levy’s offer was viewed as “very little” by the Brazilian club.
Levy’s stinginess may be moot anyway as Goal adds that Gerson wants to stay with Flamengo for at least another season, having only recently returned to Brazil after a spell in Serie A with Fiorentina and Roma.
While it is completely believable that the man who offered £3m plus Josh Onomah for Jack Grealish – according to The Independent – would go in with a lowball offer – I’m finding it hard to be mad about his penny-pinching in this case as the Gerson link is very…meh…to me.
We have a bunch of talented young players already vying for Gerson’s position in midfield, and the 23-year-old’s first venture into Europe was hardly a rip-roaring success. Why would we gamble on him when we’re still waiting on our Ndombele and Gedson gambles to pay out?

You do know its an auction right. When I’m at an auction I go in low too. Half of what I’m willing to pay then take it from there. Stop at my limit.
Who is scouting these guys? Is Levy targeting and buying these players? Is Steve Hitchen on the case still? Somethings not been right with our transfers for time. Hence us going backwards. Kane piping up should have kicked the clubs hierarchy into gear.
