“You can’t rule it out” – Reliable journalist claims Spurs are keeping an eye on a late transfer move

Tottenham Hotspur may still make some last-minute transfer moves in the final hours of the January transfer window if the right opportunities present themselves.

This has been suggested by Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who discussed the club’s options ahead of the Tuesday transfer deadline on his YouTube channel.

Spurs’ main focus this window has been to improve their options at right wing-back with Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro being their top target in that area.

However, according to the latest update from David Ornstein, the deal is off as the two clubs have failed to come to terms with the structure of the agreement with the Portuguese club insisting on the release clause to be paid upfront.

There have also been reports suggesting that Spurs have been exploring the possibility of bringing in another center-back.

Gold has claimed that Tottenham’s director of football, Fabio Paratici, will be keeping an eye out for any potential late deals that may emerge.

Gold stated that “it would be daft” to rule out the possibility of a late transfer, as Monday nights are often when these late deals start to become a possibility.

He said:

“So the feeling right now is at the moment because, obviously, we don’t know where any of these opportunities are gonna arise because that’s why they’re called late opportunities. At the moment the feeling is that Porro – if they can get it over the line – that ends up being the last transfer. And that’s because you can’t foresee a late opportunity arising and it very well may do.”

“And you can’t rule it out. It’d be daft to, at this stage, say that’s them done because you don’t know what happens probably on Tuesday.

“Often Monday night is when these like late deals start to kind of rear their head as a possibility. And then on Tuesday, sometimes you get the odd frantic one towards the end that wasn’t even considered. So I wouldn’t rule it out entirely.”

He added that last year’s transfer window saw Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur both arrive at Hotspur Way on deadline day and there is no reason why Spurs might not look into the market for late deals again.
