Eric Dier is unlikely to leave Tottenham now ‘with just few hours remaining‘ for the window to shut according to journalist Charlie Eccleshare
Writing for The Athletic, he claims Dier has only one year left in his contract to end which is why that Tottenham have been trying to cash in on the player all summer.
Ange Postecoglou does not seem to fancy the Englishman too much. He is yet to feature for Spurs this season and was not even been named in the squad that played Fulham in the League Cup.
He has previously been linked with a move to Fulham but reports claimed that the player would rather stay and fight for a place in the team.
The 29-year-old was even linked with a move to Bayern with claims that Kane had recommended him to the German giants.
Eccleshare also names Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest as two other clubs interested and claims that despite the player being offered to Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, they have not been able to agree a deal that suits the player and the club.
Now, with the transfer window’s closure imminent, it seems Eric Dier is set to remain at Tottenham.
This development is particularly relevant given that Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon have both left the club on loan deals. While Davinson Sanchez is also reportedly being pursued for a move away, no deal has been finalized.
If Spurs do not sign a new centre-back, they might need Dier and Sanchez for back-up otherwise they could be left short at the back if an injury to the first-choice centre-backs occurs.
