Fabrizio Romano, a well-reputed transfer expert, has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Leicester City star James Maddison.
Maddison has been linked with a move away from Leicester since last summer, with both Tottenham and Newcastle United showing strong interest in the midfielder.
Newcastle had previously submitted two bids for Maddison, but both were rejected as they fell short of Leicester’s valuation of £60 million.

Romano also said that Tottenham “remain interested” in Maddison, but that they do not have a new manager or director of football yet, which are two crucial positions to decide on future signings.
However, Romano confirmed that people at Tottenham are keen on Maddison and consider him an “important player” for the summer transfer window.
He said:
“The feeling around James Maddison is that something will happen in the summer.
“Many important clubs are following the situation. Tottenham remain interested in Maddison.
“It’s true that they still don’t have a new coach, they still don’t have a new director.
“These are two crucial points to decide on the future signing, so this is why at the moment nothing is advanced.
“But people at Tottenham are still following Maddison and considering him an important player who could become a summer target.”
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to sign Maddison in the summer.
However, if they do, it would be a major coup for the club. Maddison is one of the best midfielders in the league who could make a big impact at Tottenham.
