“We’re behind you.” Spurs fans show love and support to Conte after his first league game

Tottenham fans have sent a message of support to Antonio Conte despite failing to win his first league match as the manager.

The Lilywhites hired him as a replacement for the dismal Nuno Espirito Santo and he hopes to make them a top club again.

Spurs’ fans never truly warmed to Nuno Santo and the lack of trophies on his CV might be a contributing factor to that.

However, Conte seems to enjoy more support partly because he has proven he can do a brilliant job at clubs like Chelsea and Inter Milan.

After the game against Everton at Goodison Park, Spurs used his image in a post on Twitter thanking their fans for supporting the team in the match and some of them commented their support for the Italian. Here are some reactions:

Conte has done well at several other clubs, but even the successful Jose Mourinho flopped at Tottenham.

The Italian would become a cult hero if he helps the team end the wait for another trophy. Winning the Premier League will make him even more recognised in the world of football.

January can’t come quickly enough and then it’s up to Levy to break the habit of a lifetime and bring in some real QUALITY.

We desperately need some quality at centre back and midfield. Agree with you about Skipp. For me he’s championship standard no more.

if the team played like this and Nuno put on Doherty at left wingback, Tanguy at left wing and Gio at right wing, playing 3 center mids and 2 CDMs against a team with very little attacking threat, he’d need a police escort to make it out of there in one piece.

I was there today. It was abysmal. 2 mediocre football teams doing their best to give the ball to the other lot and showing a distinct lack of end product.

I have bizarrely read that there was some encouraging performances, but our distribution from the back was awful and the fact we did not have a shot on target…….again, tells us all this is not good enough from an attacking point of view. Skipp is learning his trade but is not up to standard in the Prem (ye) but will he ever be? His distribution is non existent going forward so what is his role in this team? Delph, who is an ok footballer, had far too space in midfield to move the ball left and right (invariably left) so, if we had 2 defensive players stopping him, maybe we needed 3! We were poor from back to front. Reggie gave the ball away far too many times.

Conte can only sort this out with a big cheque book and a bigger stick to launch the deadwood into another league. Townsend, who was simply not good enough for us, did not look out of place today, and he didn’t play well.
