Was Tanganga Victim Of Second Red Card Challenge In As Many Games? [Video]

Last week it was Andy Robertson and this week Etienne Capoue – both arguably lucky to get away with red-card tackles on Japhet Tanganga.

The former Tottenham midfielder went in really high on the young defender, but referee Michael Oliver didn’t even deem it a yellow card.

VAR took a look and decided it was not a red card – (it isn’t able to overturn and award only yellow). Take a look at this video and decide for yourself.

There is not a lot of contact on Tanganga, but that is more through luck than Capoue’s judgement. Challenging that high with studs up is dangerous.

It has been a nightmare half for VAR, which failed to correct a blatant handball against Craig Cathcart that would have led to a Spurs penalty.

Then referee Oliver lost communication with Stockley Park. He was off the pitch for over three minutes while the action was comically stopped. Only two minutes of stoppage time was added. The incompetence is comical.
