Video: “My motivation is the game” – Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris discusses his future

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris turns 35-years-old in December, and despite goalkeepers playing at an elite level into their mid 30’s, it seems as though the north London-based has a post-Lloris plan in place.

Over the summer, Tottenham landed Pierluigi Gollini on a loan deal from Atalanta BC. It appears as though the 26-year-old is the long-term plan at goalkeeper, considering Lloris’ contract expires in June.

Nonetheless, Lloris spoke with Sky Sports, where the goalkeeper stated that although he acknowledges he’s in the latter stage of his career, he still sees a good number of years playing football, whether at Spurs or elsewhere.

“I’m still the young boy who used to play after school at the park. Playing a World Cup or Champions League final… the context has changed, but the game remains the same. My motivation is the game,” Lloris said.

“I know I am in the last stages of my career. I have, I don’t know, three or four years ahead of me. I know that I have to take advantage of it even more than before because one day, it will stop. With a smile, with positivity, I try to put all my energy into training, and it’s the best way to enjoy football and competition.”
