Tottenham will pay up to €40M for Spain international but no more

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is planning to reunite Adama Traore with Nuno Espirito Santo in north London this summer.

The Portuguese manager has just been hired as the latest Spurs boss and he could raid his former club for some trusted names.

One player that he enjoyed working with at Wolves is Traore and he may be set to add him to his squad in north London.

The Spain international is one of the hardest players to mark in England and he would add a new edge to the Tottenham attack.

Spurs have been adding new players to their squad and they could still lose Harry Kane in this transfer window.

If Kane leaves, they would need to sign more than one attacker to replace the England captain and Adama could be one of them.

Todofichajes says Spurs had been willing to offer around 35m euros for his signature, but that fee is short of what Wolves want.

They want 50m euros for his signature, but Tottenham will not go that high and they have set 40m euros as the maximum fee that they would offer to sign him.

Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s most trusted winger, but Traore will have to win the battle for a place in the team against the likes of Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura.

The only likelihood of signing Traore is if we sell Bergwijn or Lucas. The left side with Son and Gil is very well set. Traore can be unplayable at times, but the problem with him is ‘end product’. Can he be coached into becoming a more influential 90 minute player, rather than just an impact sub?

Yeah, like the rest, no thanks. Just an impact sub. We need more guile, not pace, power and directness.

He’s a Thicc Franz Carr. But not as enjoyable to watch.

Traore can be an exceptional player and produce moments outstanding, even unstoppable at times, but his lack of consistency has to be a concern, however if we already have Bryan Gil then where does that leave him and Bergwijn should we go for Traore ?

Well it looks like we’ll need a new striker.
