Tottenham will face European transfer ban if they re-join European Super League

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham will be banned from European competitions if they continue with the European Super League, it has been revealed.

The Lilywhites were one of six Premier League clubs who joined three clubs each from Spain and Italy to form the breakaway competition.

The fans protested and forced them to withdraw from the competition within 48 hours.

While they have verbally withdrawn from it, CGTN reports that the competition is still alive, according to Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez.

The Daily Mail is now reporting that any English club who re-joins the competition would be banned from signing players from other European Leagues.

Since Brexit, the FA has had more powers in helping teams sign foreign stars from other European countries.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham says they would tighten the rules pertaining to transfers if any of their clubs attempt to breakout.

The plan is to ensure that teams outside their recognised competitions wouldn’t be able to sign top players from other European competitions because they would be denied a work permit.

Bullingham said via Mail Sport: ‘We may tweak some aspects of the visa system to make sure that people only get visas for our competitions which we accredit. ‘So, you can’t pull in talent from abroad to play in competitions that we don’t sanction. They couldn’t bring in foreign players to play in that [breakaway] competition. ‘[We will] make sure our rule book is tightened up. The Premier League are doing the same, the Premier League rules were voted through at the Premier League AGM. We’re working on a few tweaks.’

Could spurs not get around this by in effect creating a new club – Tottenham Athletic FC and changing the players contracts to allow them to play for both clubs??

Music to ENIC’s ears with a ready made excuse…”despite their best attempts they were unable to splash the cash once Kane was sold due to unfair victimisation by FA after the club’s announcement it is rejoining the ESL.”

The only way we’ll get into Europe with Levy at the helm is if Danny boy writes a song and we qualify for the European song contest!!

Levy’s already tested the water on that one, we can go a year without any transfers, no sweat… 😂

Is that really legal? Sounds an awful lot like an attempt to stomp out any possible competition and enforce a monopoly. The European Court might have something to say about that.

Anyway, if they’re threatening us with a transfer embargo, they don’t know who they’re dealing with. Chelsea signed more players than us while they were banned from buying players!

Getting the ESL money in AND having an excuse for not signing players is Levy’s wet dream.
