Tottenham Hotspur did some overhauling of its backline this summer with the additions of Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal. Despite the improvements on their defender, the north London-based club isn’t done molding its squad even though the window has already closed.
The next position that Tottenham would like to address is the midfield, and they already have their eyes on a specific target. According to Calcio Mercato, The Lilywhites want to land AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié, whose contract expires next summer.
Furthermore, Tottenham doesn’t necessarily have to wait until next summer to begin talking with Kessié if the 24-year-old doesn’t sign an extension from now until when the January window opens, they could begin talks on a pre-contract.
The report details that the Premier League side is ready to offer Kessié a contract offer worth €8-million (£6.9-million) per year. Tottenham will be hoping that the midfielder continues to reject extensions with the Serie A side to at least have discussions with the player during the winter transfer window.
